Bad habits like smoking, drinking, drugs, over eating, etc. is self medicating an escape. If we can replace the need for escape with a happy, fulfilling life then we eliminate the need for the bad habit and thus the habit itself.
There are disorders such as mental illness that are very difficult to correct. Misdiagnosed illnesses and untreatable illnesses are examples of situations where the escape from the bad habits is extremely difficult.
The 10,000 hour rule – it takes 10,000 hours to become an expert in something. (on average)
You also need deliberate practice. (mindful, focused effort)
And you need masterful coaching. (great teacher who knows the art and how to teach, and you have good chemistry with)
